1 The $8,000 first
-time homebuyer tax credit offered by the government has been extended. In addition, homebuyers who have been in their current home for five consecutive years of the past eight can receive up to $6,500. For both tax credits, a purchase contract must be signed by April 30, 2010, and close by June 30, 2010 to qualify
